Overview of Gotemba City

Gotemba is a green city located in the highlands on the eastern side of Mount Fuji. With a population of 90,000, it is a medium-sized city in Shizuoka Prefecture, and is undergoing development. Located around 100km away from Tokyo, Gotemba is part of the Tokyo and Yokohama economic spheres. Self-Defense Force facilities including the training camp in the eastern part of the city make up one-third of the area. Mount Fuji, which is the tallest mountain in Japan that is known for its splendid scenery, is a tourist attraction that symbolizes Gotemba.
